The thing I love most about the ranch is that it is for people of all ages. From the very young to the retirees, there is a place for each to participate and volunteer. I have seen God bring his children to a place where it is safe and where they can come and be loved by staff without judgment.

Living in Central Oregon brings a greater depth of experience with God every day. I love gazing upon the snow-capped mountains. Witnessing the amazing sunrises and beautiful sunsets is like breathing in a little touch of heaven. My favorite thing to do is to go hiking with my husband. There are few better places to have lunch than inside the cathedral of Broken Top, or to feed a chipmunk at the false summit of South Sister. For our 35th anniversary this year, my husband and I hiked to one of the local snow shelters with our favorite coffee and Black Tie Cheese Cake and watched the sunset.

I have worked in programs that deal with at-risk teens for over 10 years, and before that, my husband and I started a daycare center that focused on young at-risk children. I have seen when the heart is open, God can heal regardless of how deep the wound. I strongly believe that God uses animals as an instrument to aid in the healing of the broken. When a child or an adult experiences the unconditional love of one of God’s creations the impossible happens.

In 2006 I came to pick up my granddaughter from the ranch, I knew in that moment that one day I would either be working or volunteering at the ranch. Faithful as He is, I am working amongst a mighty group of people, who love the Lord with all their heart. I will always remember what my youth pastor said so many years ago, “Hold on to God and His word with all your might and your feet will land in the right place.”
